Update: Melody has been adopted!
I’m moving to a country that unfairly bans all dogs who even look like pit bulls, so my sweet girl Melody needed a new home 💔
Why she’s amazing
- Adores people, including children
- Super cute
- Loves to snuggle
- Good with cats (she’s lived with three kittens and one elderly cat)
- Rarely barks
- Fairly low maintenance
- I’m willing to pay for her living expenses in full for the rest of her life (food, leashes and similar, regular medical care, some emergency medical care. If you’re interested we can discuss specifics)
- In excellent health as of Fall 2025
- Doesn’t resource guard (I’ve watched her ignore a kitten 1/20th her size openly stealing her food)
- Ok with small living spaces (we had two people, her, and a cat in a 430 square foot apartment)
Some challenges to be aware of
- Due to her history as a rescue, she’s “dog-selective”. This means that while she can coexist happily with other dogs she knows well, her she reacts very poorly to unknown dogs. I would highly recommend not attempting to introduce her to other dogs unless you’re a very experienced dog owner. This is also why I’m unable to use traditional dog rehoming services, which have all their dogs living in a shared space
- She’s a large (~65 pounds), strong dog. This is usually not a problem, but for example I would suggest that children not be the ones to walk her unless an adult also has a firm hold on the leash
- She’s 11 years old. It’s hard to tell she’s 11, she’s still going strong and in great health, but that’s somewhat elderly for a larger dog like her
